As I reflect on the past three years I have been a part of Leadership Workshops Foundation for Youth and Family (LWFYF), one year as a participant and three years as a Volunteer Peer Leader, many thoughts come to mind about the things I have learned about myself and life from my workshop experience.
Through LWFYF and Workshop, I have learned that being challenged to grow is a good thing. You cannot help others until you help and love yourself first. I have also learned how important it is to get involved in your community and with your peers, because they are the people that will help you, teach you and allow you to grow and become a better person in our beautiful journey through life. Finally, workshop has offered me a chance to give back to a program that made a difference in my life, and has given me continued growth and awareness, which is developing a heart for leadership and helping, as well as a lifetime habit of caring about other people.
Best wishes,
Kendra Mitchell Volunteer Peer Leader 2001-2003
