Early adolescence is an optimal time for shaping enduring patterns of behavior that set a young person on a successful course for life. This workshop helps pre-teens develop the skills they need for leadership such as maintaining a sense of self-worth, forming close, durable friendships, and achieving a reliable basis for making informed choices. In this safe, encouraging, and lively environment, they will:
• Identify age-appropriate independence • Learn how to handle their feelings in different situations • Negotiate new and conflicting demands and pressures • Learn how to establish friendships and a sense of belonging among peers • Respect and nurture their emerging identity • Strengthen social skills • Become more involved in community, family, and school
