Peer Leaders are former Workshop participants who have completed an intense and highly specialized training program with Dr. Mills-Yerger to become effective communicators, group leaders and role models during the Workshop. Peer Leaders provide a sincere and personalized approach to assisting the participants in feeling safe and comfortable at the Workshop. In addition to creating a learning environment, they model high self-esteem behaviors for the participants. To be a candidate for this highly competitive position you must have recently completed a weeklong summer Workshop and at least your freshman year of high school with a C average or better. Being a Peer Leader is a big time commitment. Most PLs volunteer over 300 hours per year during their 3 years of service. The application process is very intense but the opportunity and rewards are immense.
