Over the last 41 years, Workshops for Youth and Families has helped strengthen Arizona families through innovative educational programs presented to more than 30,000 young people.
Workshop provides programs for approximately 1,200 youth each year, all aging from 9 to 19. Based in Scottsdale, Arizona, nearly 75 percent of new participants live in the immediate area and are referred by local churches, schools, alumni, parents, and social service organizations.
One reason why we are referred is for our effective peer to peer mentorship which is the foundation of our unique programs. This style of teaching works because teens tend to relate to and trust someone their age who is there to support and mentor them.
Our entire staff help our participants strengthen their confidence and resiliency by helping them cultivate their own moral principles, as well as fostering their own unique leadership potential. It is in these ways that we prepare, prevent, and mentor developing healthy kids.
The impact of our program does not stop there. The ripple effect is this: participants leave our program equipped with the tools and skills to make a difference in their own life as well as the lives of their families, friends, and peers who benefit from this positive change.
